Identity design for the Mütter Museum

The Mütter Museum is home to a remarkable collection of medical specimens that explore the human history of anatomy and medicine.

This visual identity was inspired by the Hyrtl Skull Collection—a striking display of 139 human skulls, each labeled with personal details such as age, origin, and cause of death. Though visually similar, each skull represents a unique individual and story.

To capture this concept of individuality within sameness, I created a custom typeface built from simple circles and lines. This modular, human-inspired typography is used throughout the museum’s branding system, echoing the balance between science, identity, and design.
